However... speaking only for myself (which I know is completely inapplicable in this circumstance). If I felt I was in a place where I was a possible threat to others, I would definitely tell a medical professional the truth so as to seek the best help possible. Institutionalization and Imprisonment are very different things, though to someone facing that possibility I can understand the reluctance, however if you do have any close family or friedns perhaps you should, just this once, consider their safety.

Oh and for the record I've never been on Facebook, and I've never been to Hawaii. If I ever get there due to my wife's insistance, I promise not to brag about it.

Remember that Social Media is like a highlight reel... most people are only posting the good stuff and keeping all their own anxieties and problems hidden. "Facebook Depression" was a term coined a few years back when doctor's first started noticing trends where people that had even the smallest amount of social anxiety were being bombarded by all the things their friends were doing without them etc, much like you described. So you're not alone in that.

Don't be too proud to talk to a doctor and tell them you need help... make them understand that you need help. You're a much better writer than I am, so if you don't feel like you can talk to doctor try writing something like this for them. There are prescription medications that they can help "break the cycle". If you have tried a medication and it didn't work for you or made you feel "numb" tell the doctor that, there are many options. If money is an is an issue also TELL the doctor that. I spent a few years without insurance and it is tough, but your health is important. See what they can work out for you.

The last time he posted something strange like this (about two months ago) he never made any follow-up posts to explain what was going on. I predict the same there here. This is so incredibly strange. He's posted only three times since 2011 and all three of those times were this year. The other two posts this year both revolve around Godzilla movies being set or filmed in a tropical location. WTF...?

Til then, get therapy, get a life, and quit using other people's successes to down on yourself for not going out there and getting it yourself. There's a lot of people like that out there. Most of them are managers.

Aside from getting therapy, a cool thing to do that would be really cheap, if you can get your hands on some camping equipment, would be to hike the Appalachian trail or some other such long hiking trail. It would give you some time to reflect on yourself, and it would give you an adventure. You'd also probably learn that you should stop comparing your full picture of life to everyone else's highlight reel. Vacations can be hell. They're satisfying, but they can be serious hell.
