I'm trying to give him the benefit of the doubt here, but I'm still willing to bet the accuser's accusations and Clash's "clearance" had something to do with that six (!!!) figure settlement.
The super fast timing of the recanting just makes the whole thing seem even more suspicious. You don't come out with that sort of bombshell just to take it back a couple days later and say "oops, got my dates mixed up by two years." I'm not saying it definitely DID happen, and perhaps this new version IS the truth. But I also don't want to just blindly accept the version that I personally want to believe without questioning it.
Clash paying off his accuser and then having the accuser come out and change his story paints the whole story with a seedy, unnerving feel.
