Well since you already responded, I guess it would be unfair to not comment back, even though I already deleted my first comment (as I said, I don't like to get political, either online OR in real life).
Is Obama a jerk? I think a lot of factors would point to "yes," so I'll leave that there. Still, even with the things I've been disappointed in him for, there are also a lot of things that I thought he handled very well... Hell, I wouldn't even be in school right now if not for his pell grants.
I'm more conservative when it comes to fiscal matters, but my feelings on women's rights, gay marriage, the separation of church and state, education, clean energy, etc. are all extremely strong and much more left leaning. When it comes to civil liberties and personal freedoms, I get very defensive and no amount of "smaller spending" or proposed tax cuts promised by the Right will sway me the other way.
My line of thinking: You cannot take away a woman's right to her own body. You cannot use hate mongering to try and keep the Gay Community from their rights. You cannot dismiss or ignore minorities or women. You cannot force your religious doctrine on people. You cannot shill for the rich only. You cannot outsource jobs for profit nor can you slash money for educators and education. You can't play step and fetch to big oil. You cannot use failed economic ideas repackaged and expect them to work.
And Paul Ryan being in cahoots with all those "Pregnancy by rape is god's will" clowns is another matter entirely. And you certainly can't say abortion is a sin if you think rape is god's will.
Then you throw in hateful Tea Partiers (now THOSE people frighten me to my very core) who back them, lobby with them, throw them money, and get put in positions of power... sorry, man, not havin it. I rarely even consider picking one side over the other (both are majorly screwy IMO and I wish we had more than 2 parties). But Mitt Romney might as well have come out of a "stereotypical rich white guy" factory.
And I just don't agree with the Ayn Randian philosophy or the Bible pushing of the current Republican party (and I know many conservatives and Republicans who don't share those views either).
So I'm happy to say good f*cking riddance.
Now keep in mind that I could sound off on Obama too, but since I was more or less called an idiot for my Romney comments, I felt I should elaborate. That said, I'm about 50/50 on Obama (AT BEST), whereas I was about 5/95 on Romney. And I'm glad i made the choice I did at the polls. I'm not a Democrat, Republican, Libertarian, Green or any of em. I vote with my gut and that's how its always been.
Not trying to start a heated debate or change anybody's mind. But I felt like I should at least state my position if I'm going to have it called "idiotic"
