That's from 1975. Mil has starred in around 20 movies (since 1966) , Santo in 52 (starting in 1958) and Blue Demon in 25 (starting in 1964 and was an extra in a few before that).

with a nice overview of the big three.

He's still doing it? Damn!

I've been seeing old lucha flicks on Galavision, before or after CMLL wrestling on Saturdays. Always a hoot.

For fans of Mil Mascaras vs the Aztec Mummy, the follow up movie Academy of Doom has been eagerly anticipated. Sadly it has languished for ages, stuck in some legal muck and mire. Producer Jeff Uhlmann finally has been able to get a platform for its release through the University of Missouri where it was filmed and financed (and is my hometown!). And it is now available!

Just as a micro review: It is IMO a very good movie. It's even cheaper than MMvsAM and the acting maybe a little cheesier, but believe me, it fits the movie in just the right way. The acting is a like jumping into very cold water. It's surprises you with it's amateurishness at first but then you get used to it just a few minutes in. It's got a lot of energy and enthusiastic verve that really makes it go. Also it has a lot of classic Mexican horror/lucha tropes in it that are just there and work, as opposed to seeming like contrived or shoehorned in homages. It's like the director speaks the language of lucha monster fighting and just uses that in the story telling.
