I gotta say, I take issue with at least 4 of the items on this list.
First of all:
Video Game Consoles - the article itself admits that the gaming units that will be successful will be those that integrate other things into their design. So basically, video game consoles aren't going ANYWHERE, they are just going to be updated and adapted.
E-Readers - Until a tablet can be produced that uses the e-ink technology that the Kindle and Nook use, and has capable internet browsing, e-Readers won't go anywhere because book people don't want to read lengthy novels on an LCD screen.
DVD Players - I'll get into that one in the next one...
Recordable Media - The reason DVD/BRD players and recordable media won't be going anywhere is pretty simple...piracy. As long as people rent movies and want to burn a copy for their mom, dad, gramma, cousin, or girl they totally are gonna try to sleep with, these things won't go anywhere. Once a person has a movie and has burned it, it becomes impossible to trace where that thing is going. Digital files can be tracked too easily. People also are resistant to the idea of giving up their physical media, for the most part, ESPECIALLY purists.
I might be proven wrong on those last two points (especially on DVD Players if an all-in-one gaming/tv/dvd console becomes the rage), but I really don't think we'll be seeing the end of the e-reader or game consoles any time soon.
I still remember like 5 years ago when people said within 5 years, e-readers would die out because they weren't catching on with people and now traditional book stores are closing left and right because people have EMBRACED these things
