a couple notes on the last two since my thoughts on the first two can be found in other threads pretty easily

The Wrestler: How in the name of holy hell did Rourke NOT win Best Actor? He was awesome in this. Very very good movie, i like it a lot.

Resident Evil Extinction: I was entertained. I'd been 'meaning to see it' for a long long time, and after finally getting the chance, I didn't think it was bad at all. Sure, it's full of cliches and the FX are a bit of a hodge-podge but i was entertained.

Besides my watching the Godzilla movies in order thing (as documented in other parts of the site)...

I saw Star Trek in the theater
Got (used at moviestop) and watched The Host
Rented the classic French version of Beauty and the Beast directed by Jean Cocteau, will definetely buy the Criterion DVD at some point. It's an incredible film.
Watched The Shoot Horses, Don't They? on TCM last night. Can't believe I didn't see the ending coming.[/i]

Watched a few this weekend:

Doubt - Wow. Great movie. Great performances from pretty much everyone in the film.

Taken - Also a pretty good movie but the complete opposite. Some great action/fight scenes and, I think, some of the worst acting I've seen lately. Liam Neeson was terrible until it came to the action scenes.

Got the Wrestler and Outlander coming from Netflix too. Can't wait for Outlander.

Got the two Marx Brothers boxed sets and watched the first two films, The Cocoanuts and Animal Crackers, which were just filmed versions of their Broadway plays.

- The Terminator the untouchable classic it is, one has to love Bill Paxton as leader of the punks, man I had so much fun with this, I have not watched it since I bought the DVD a few years back! one of those films that helps mold your taste at a very young age.

- Ultraman first few episodes from the box-set, these are so fun to watch, I have not seen these since I was a wee little one, some very nostalgic moments & I forgot how sly and cool the Baltan are. I can't get the theme song out of my head now! :lol:

Dogora- This is finally starting to grow on me.

Godzilla 2000- I've always loved this movie, but I feel that this movie has climbed so much higher on my favorites list since I watched it last Saturday.

Equilibrium- A really fun Matrix spinoff. Actually I find it to be ten times better than the Matrix.

Godzilla Vs. Mothra '92- Actually enjoyed this. I always looked at it as a decent Godzilla film but am starting to see the charm in the actors and story now.

Shadow of the Wraith

Kind of cool, kind of boring 2 part movie by the director of Evil Dead Trap, very stylish, known actors" well pop stars" but a very dry film in general. I guess it is kind of standard issue with the Asian ghost & haunting movie trend.

Ice Station Zebra (1968)

Also introducing the girlfriend to the wacky world of Gamera
we've watched Gamera the Invincible through Gamera vs. Gyaos
and last Friday we watched Up. Which was great, and the first film
in a long time to elicit an emotional response of any sort.

I watched a pair of italian giallos:

The Case Of The Scorpion's Tale - This one was fun, had good murders and a fast paced plot that zipped along nicely.

Dario Argento's Four Flies On Grey Velvet - His third movie, this is where his style really began to take form. This is my favorite of his "animal" trilogy (the first 2 being Bird With The Crystal Plumage and Cat 'O Nine Tails).

Also watched the making of, on the collectors Edition of Jaws, such a classic & man does it indeed stand the test of time! it really was quite refreshing watching this, it has been so long "We're gonna need a bigger boat" :eek:

Earlier tonight I saw The Hangover and thought it was brilliant. Very clever writing, endearing characters and an endless supply of laughs put it right up there with Tropic Thunder and Pineapple Express as one of the best comedies in recent years.

This past week I watched and Latitude Zero, the latter of which is straight-up genre fun from beginning to end. An imaginative premise, some impressive Tsuburaya miniature work, a wonderful Ifukube score, totally corny one-liners, Cesar Romero hamming it up, Akira Takarada and Akihiko Hirata forcing their lines in English, and an absolutely ridiculous-looking lionbird brought to life with glorious suitmation. For fans of Toho's Golden Era, this movie is an absolute treat.

Watched Eurotrip last Friday. Funny and enjoyable as usual. It's definitely not one of the best movies of all time, but it's one of my favorites.

Just watched Terror of MechaGodzilla and am now watching Godzilla vs. MechaGodzilla. I love these two. I'm very much a fan of the original MechaGodzilla and the plots to both movies are fun.[/i]
