All Star Batman and Robin the Boy Wonder

I actually bought issues 1-9 today, instead of listening to rabid Batman fanboys, and I have totally different feelings about it. I mean, the Justice League f*cking hate Batman, and Robin beats the Green Lantern nearly to death.

There is a valid arguement with how the series barely progresses, but most haters just "OH GODZILLA! WHAT TERRIBLE LANGUAGE!" about how the characters are portrayed. Really though, who can deny this?

Is All-Star Superman any good btw?

I'm hardly a "rabid Batman fanboy" or a "hater",but this is the worst thing I have ever read. "What, are you retarded or something? I'm the "OH GODZILLA! WHAT TERRIBLE LANGUAGE!" Batman."
I mean, come on. Batman beats Robin and makes him eat rats? WTF?? Wonder Woman calls men "sperm bank"? The big boy scout Supes tells other heroes to "shut up"? Black Canary is a bar skank that beats up civilians and takes their cash? I'm sorry, this comic is beyond stupid.

One other issue I have. Why is it that in every Frank Miller Batman comic, every 5 pages or so someone will remark that Batman looks or dresses "like Dracula".
Does Batman even remotely remind you of Dracula?

Dude, I'm pretty sure that All-Star Batman is basically Frank Miller making an over-the-top mockery of the gritty style of Batman comics that he helped create in the first place and is so associated with.

there's one big reason i don't read comics these days. what a pile of crappy crap crap. how DC can sully the name "ALL-Star" with it, parody or not, is beyond me.

i'll stick with my Essentials and Showcase Presents, where the heroes actually like each other and smile.

Sorry, but this book is god awful.... and this is coming from a LONG LONG time Frank Miller fanboy... hell, I'm one of the 3 people in the world that thought Dark Knight Strikes Again was an ok read. I understand All Star B&M is re-interpretations, but its TERRIBLE re-interpretations. They aren't good ideas at all. You get that DC, Miller, and Jim Lee are only doing this book to do something different just for the sake of it being "daring" and "extreme" instead of actually making a great story. Its just them trying to be cool by "pushing it far," but they forgot that in order to TRULY push the boundaries, it has to be GOOD, not just "daring" junk.

Frank Miller seems to have been going a little crazy lately... his mind has probably been warped by hanging out with Hollywood hipsters.

Since I don't feel like listing all the reasons I hate this book, I'll just say read this review from Crave, as it perfectly sums up my feelings towards it (although I don't agree with everything it says about Miller, it hits the nail on the head when it comes to All Star B&R).

From The Source Friday, April 2nd, 2010:

[quote="Alex Segura"]The King is dead! Long live the King!

Let me shed some more light on what was just announced at WonderCon today: ALL STAR BATMAN AND ROBIN, THE BOY WONDER — the landmark hit series from the superstar team of writer Frank Miller and artist Jim Lee — has ceased publication.

But that’s not the news here. The epic partnership of Miller and Lee is far from done:

“The first Chapter of the story of how Batman and Robin came to be has been told in issues 1-10 of ALL STAR BATMAN AND ROBIN,â€

I'd like to point out that I bought and read the Beasts of Burden/Hellboy crossover and Usagi Yojimbo #132 today, and they were both excellent.

I wonder if a few decades from now the original creators would have ended their runs on these series and new writers and artists will be constantly re-purposeing and reinventing them and fans will be on the internet discussing how dumb the new stuff is: "Has this guy ever read a Mignola Hellboy comic? Seriously, how could he image Hellboy acting that way?"
