Coinciding with Cloverfield, Yahoo.com has done a small photo feature on giant monsters through the years. A quick and spotty look at film monsters, nothing special. King Kong and Godzilla are listed first and second, as they should, but I was quite surprised to see the creature from The Host listed!

they sure picked the worst shot (staged and all model) of the Kraken, didn't they?

On a similar note, MSN just compiled a list of the 15+ most notable movies pertaining to New York City. King Kong came in at #6, with honorable mention to The Beast From 20,000 Fathoms and Q the Winged Serpent in the same slot.
