Star Trek The Motion Picture
A Novel By Star Trek's Creator
Gene Roddenberry
Based on the Screenplay by Harold Livingston
And the Story by Alan Dean Foster
So sayeth the cover of the book.
It's interesting. A lot more references to erections than there are in the finished movie (in that the movie doesn't have any, and the book has two so far, including Sulu's bumbling attempt to hide one), and some unexpected perspectives on human psychological/intellectual evolution.
I'm one of those rare people who really likes ST:TMP, and the novelization gives voice to a lot of things that were just implied in the movie... and at times probably better left implied.
Tokyo, a smoldering memorial to the unknown, an unknown which at this very moment still prevails and could at any time lash out with its terrible destruction anywhere else in the world.
