^You know, I'm not some huge fan but probably my favorite set of books that I own is a paperback set of the LotR trilogy from the '60s. The books were apparently huge with the counterculture of the time and bootlegging of the books and merchandise was prevalent. Thus, these official copies I have feature colorful, almost psychedelic cover art and a solemn notice that these are the official, licensed copes authorized by Tolkein!

In the last few years I haven't actually read a book of prose. I've listened to plenty of audiobooks during work, but listening is really a different experience to reading, you know? I feel like I'm using a different part of my brain. Anyway, at the beginning of this month I read both The Inugami Curse (the most famous Japanese mystery novel) and the first of Clive Barker's Books of Blood (Halloween season!). It reminded me of just how pleasurable an act reading is and I'm jonesing for more!
