I hate Space Jam. It takes brilliant characters and puts 'em in an overcommecialized mess - a proto-Shrek, and I mean that as an insult.

In related news: I've resolved to buy those Looney Tunes Golden Collection boxed sets!

In more related news: Cartoon Network is making a new Looney Tunes TV show, apparently a sitcom where all the characters live in the suburbs . Doesn't sound too pomising, but in the revamped character designs they've gone back to the more round faced Bugs Bunny, which I always liked better as a kid.

And as for recently watched movies: Harold Lloyd's The Kid Brother and Laurel and Hardy's The Devil's Brother.

No movie embodies the essence of the '90s more than one that combines live action and animation to show the Looney Tunes joining forces with Michael Jordan, Wayne Knight and Bill Murray in a game of basketball against a team of supercharged aliens. Come on, wake up your inner child and enjoy the fun.

Watching the Japanese version of King Kong vs. Godzilla for the second time this week after having not seen it in years, in preparation to burn it to DVD-R with the old TM subtitles. It really is another Golden Era classic in its unaltered state, and I love how it satirizes itself.

Metropolis-Didn't get to see the first 30 minutes, but saw the rest and the animation is gorgeous for its time. The story was good, I enjoyed it.

WALL-E-Who doesn't love this movie? It's great from beginning to end.

Deadgirl- Awful movie, can't believe this thing was touted all over the indie horror circuit... and whoever compared it to Cronenberg on the back of the box needs to be shot. A really cool concept that just sits there for 90 minutes and doesn't develop.... the most annoying movie I've watched in a long time.

Dr. Tarr's Torture Dungeon- Super obscure and nutty Mexican horror movie... no torture and nobody is named Dr Tarr and NOTHING makes sense, but it sure is weird and visually interesting.

May- I always liked this movie. A really good indie horror from earlier in the last decade. Angela Bettis gives such a great performance as this pathetic girl, who is the right mix of creepy, monstrous, sympathetic, and even cute at times. It gets kinda cheesy towards the third act when she goes all slasher on everyone, but the final scene and that final shot are so brilliant, it makes up for it.

Tokyo Sonata- I love Kiyoshi Kurosawa's films. His horror movies are excellent and this shows he can do a family drama as well. Probably his most "mainstream" and straightforward film, but still excellent.

Predators- Thoughts in the Predators thread... not that great.

Now for the big guns (for real, actually). My friend had an Arnold party/BBQ last night. All Arnold, all day. Lots of food and booze as well. We ran through:

-Jingle All The Way- this movie is retarded but hilarious for all the wrong reasons... luckily I only caught the end of this one

-The Running Man- awful movie, but the satire is pretty funny at times and Arnold has like a million good one liners.

-Terminator- The original! And still the best by FAR (I don't care what anybody says!) The suspense and mood in this film are really unique and spooky, while the sequels were just big dumb actionfests with no pacing, no mood and constant wink wink jokes to the audience. This one is where its at! I only wish the James Cameron that made this and Aliens was still around instead of having been tragically killed and replaced by a sappy Hollywood cliche.

-Conan The Barbarian- I actually think this movie is pretty underrated. It drags quite a bit in the middle, but I think its one of Arnie's best.

-Total Recall- Not a good movie by any means, but so INSANE that you kinda have to love it. One has to wonder what David Cronenberg's faithful to the book version with William Hurt would have been like (he jumped ship when the studio wanted it to be an action movie and for it to star Arnold so he did the Fly instead... a win/win if you ask me!).

-Pumping Iron- This documentary is crazy. These guys were lunatics. Lou Ferrigno being deaf and screaming at his dad is awesome. And who could forget Arnold comparing working out to constantly orgasming and him eating fried chicken and smoking pot at the same time?

-Predator- THIS MOVIE IS STILL AMAZING! The mood, the tension, the creature... all fantastic. Such an original and entertaining flick. The best Predator movie and Arnie's best movie BY FAR! A favorite of mine since Kindergarten. And it still holds up in my eyes.

-Hercules In New York- Probably one of the dumbest movies ever conceived. Its even funnier hearing the voice they dubbed over Arnie's with. And the part where he fights a bear (actually a guy in a bear suit) is priceless.

-Kindergarten Cop- We decided to wind the night down with an Arnie comedy, and the best one at that. This movie isn't all that great but its fun and cute in a way... Its pretty hard to not love this movie.

I watched A Family Affair. the first Andy Hardy movie, yesterday. I've seen most of the other Andy Hardy movies -- this first one is as entertaining as the others.

And the day before that I watched Percy Jackson and the Olympians: The Lightning Thief. Interesting movie, overall I'd call it entertaining -- some aspects of the story seem a bit "pre-packaged", although I don't know if that's due to the script or the book the film is based on (right now I'd lean towards the former).
Who knows what evil lurks in the hearts of men?
