Stephen King, The Stand. Yeah, I know, I'm late to the game. Liking it so far.

I kind of love Blood Meridian for how unrelenting the whole thing is. It gets horrifying, and I love it for doing that.

Things Fall Apart by Chinua Achebe. I pretended to read this for a class once and always wanted to really read it.

Blood, Bones & Butter by Gabrielle Hamilton.

The distaff version of Kitchen Confidential. Chef Hamilton tends to bounce around in telling her life story, but her food memories are marvelously descriptive.

Been reading the Silmarillion (something I tried and failed to read nearly a decade ago). I may finish it this time. :D

Since I last posted in this thread, I've of course finished A Study in Scarlett, and have also read the short story volume The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes, which I thought was marvelous. Since then, I've read H.P. Lovecraft's The Colour Out of Space (along with the other short stories The Outsider and The Hound - all three were horrifying), as well as Ray Bradbury's Fahrenheit 451, Richard Matheson's I Am Legend, and Sophocles' Theban plays, Oedipus the King, Oedipus At Colonus, and Antigone. I've loved every single one, and I'm now reading a book on the making of THE WICKER MAN, Inside The Wicker Man, by Allan Brown.

Supervolcano: Eruption by Harry Turtledove

Turtledove takes a break from fantasy and alternative history for a novel about a family dealing with the eruption of the Yellowstone caldera.

Hopefully not in our lifetime.

I'm not sure that its entirely chronological. It may be in the order he wrote them, but not the order published. I left it in my classroom, so I can't check till Monday.
