I just recently watched a bunch of movies on NetFlix.

I've been on kind of a binge the last couple of days; watching movies that I previously didn't have much interest in before. I made myself sit down and watch the first one, then I kind of got into a groove.

Fire With Fire
Probably the best out of the bunch. I like Josh Duhamel, and he did a pretty good job with his part. Bruce Willis wasn't really a factor, but he's one of my all-time faves so him just being there was cool. It was a little confusing at times, but it was good.

Super
Sorry guys, but this one was a little too depressing for my tastes. I think it was better than Kick-Ass, but it isn't one I'd watch repeatedly.

Age of Dinosaurs
Dinosaurs are cool, especially when they're trashing a city. And I like Treat Williams.

Maximum Conviction
I don't really know what to say about this one. Steve Austin is kind of like Stallone or Willis to me; he doesn't have to do a great job for me to like him. Same goes for Steven Seagal. The plot was fun, but the execution and acting kind of bogged it down.

Knockout
Another Austin flick. This one was pretty lame. A new kid gets picked on at school, so Austin teaches him to box so he can beat up the kid who's teasing him in the ring. It's a little more complicated than that, but that's the general story. the plot kind of sucked, and the acting was mediocre.

The Stranger
Yet another Austin movie. This one I'm on the fence about. I like Austin, and I like Adam Beach, but the identity crisis thing didn't feel fleshed out enough.

I had fun with them, but I'm easy to please. I wouldn't recommend actively seeking these out unless you have nothing else to watch.

I loved Super. Hilarious dark humor in that one.

There are no more good TV Shows, only ones that haven't disappointed me yet.

The Bourne Legacy - ugh, what an incredible disappointment!! I LOVE the Bourne Trilogy. LOVE IT. And I thought this had great potential. Given the state of terrible disarray in which Bourne left the CIA at the end of the third film, there were SO many options for really interesting and engaging stories. And instead they choose the LAZIEST possible route by effectively rehashing the same basic story from the first film but with a different (far less interesting) character.

But the most inforgivable sin of all: they freaking negate EVERYTHING, and I mean ABSOLUTELY EVERYTHING that Bourne fought SO hard and lost so much to expose!! The government bad guys are back in power, hardly suffering a scratch to their careers or projects, Pamela Landy is now on trial for treason or something near it, and the CIA was somehow able to sweep everything she and Bourne released to the press under the rug before it destroyed their operation... WTF!?!?!?! So everything Bourne went through turned out to be totally pointless and accomplished nothing, according to this film. GAH. Freaking LAZY, SLOPPY, INCOMPETENT writing. I hate this movie and the people who made it. UGH!

The Conjuring - We went to see this today and it was actually pretty good. One of the better horror movies to come out in a while. It was suspenseful, full of good characters, and it did not rely on gore or jump scares to make it work. There is a scene in the movie towards the end where it got really stupid, but other than that, it was worth seeing. If you like horror movies, you should definitely check this one out.

Tokyo, a smoldering memorial to the unknown, an unknown which at this very moment still prevails and could at any time lash out with its terrible destruction anywhere else in the world.

Three Outlaw Samurai

A truly awesome '60s samurai picture, the first film by the famous Hideo Gosha (and the first one of his I've actually seen). It's very much in the wheelhouse of a Kurosawa samurai picture, but Gosha's underlying philosophy feels a lot different, more quietly cynical. Lots of great action, great characters.

Good stuff.
