I have no idea where this is from, but I respect a man who has his priorities all in order: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Nf4zPEW5CA4

EDIT: oh, wait, scrolled down the comment thread and figured out what it's from. Still good.

So this has been my homework for the day: Tomorrow I've got to present to one of my art classes two-to-three artists who are influential to my style and two-to-three who I consider myself to be in opposition to. Since I'm being allowed to focus on film this semester, I chose all filmmakers and being indecisive, I wound up choosing four and a half for the former category.

Behold, my tastefully-designed slides (click to see them at full size):

Wong Kar-Wai (Director) & Christopher Doyle (Cinematographer)

Jean-Pierre Jeunet (Director)

Shiji Higuchi (Special Effects)

Takeshi Yagi (Director/Special Effects)

My two disliked creatives were cinematographer Wally Pfister (TDK Trilogy) and Koichi Kawakita but I didn't care enough to upload their slides.

Two stories:

This is a week or so old, but its hilarious/depressing. An elderly practitioner at a Spanish church attempted to restore one of the church's prized fresco paintings.

This is the before and after of what happened.

Words fail me. This is why you get professionals, people.

Also, a store in India has opened a clothing store simply called "Hitler" (complete with swastika as the dot in the 'i')

Image

As you can see, they sell a lot of merchandise that Hitler would wear. Apparently after they came under fire by Jewish people, the store owner claimed "it wasn't until recently that he read about Hitler on the internet." (If that's true and he didn't know who Hitler was, what's with the swastika in the 'i')
