Just read NonNonBa, and I'm officially in love with Shigeru Mizuki. The cartoony, expressive characters with the incredibly detailed, almost photo-realistic backgrounds? Mesmerizing.

Drawn and Quarterly is releasing his stuff here in the US. His famous Kitaro series comes out in English pretty soon.

So Mike Mignola notices kids coming to his table at conventions and, though some Hellboy stories aren't inappropriate for kids, laments not being able to hand them a comic without reservations. The only possible solution: hire two of the most prominent kids comic creators to make

Unfortunately, I'm working during Free Comic Book Day, so I'll miss all the fun costumes and stuff. I'll swing by there late in the afternoon, and hopefully they'll still have some comics left (thankfully, I had the forethought to tell them to hold a copy of Atomic Robo for me!)

Yehhhhhh. Millar sure knows how to get publicity... It also seems like he let's shock value get in the way of a good story occasionally. It'll take a lot of good reviews for me to give Jupiter's Legacy a chance

Morrison sure talks a big game. I'm cautiously optimistic about his take on Captain Marvel/Thunder (a better but still not very good substitute name).

I'm in comics heaven right now 'cause two books I ordered finally came: Devil Dinosaur Omnibus and The Incal! I love Kirby's '70s style in DD, and the concept is just too fun. The Incal I'm just starting. Moebius' art is phenomenal. Had to get the UK print since the US version seems to go back into print for only days at a time, only to go back to being out of stock with used copies fetching a whole heck of a lot more than cover price.

In related news, I'm becoming obsessed with Steve Ditko.

I'm reading a ton of Tales to Astonish. I'm reading for the Ant-Man stuff, really. I love how Ant-Man is really just taking on spies and jewel thieves. I'd love to see a movie about that, I guess Egghead should feature because I don't think Ant-Man has any other sort of BIG storylines until Ultron.
