i would say that my only complaint would be the transformation sequence with nothing happening...i mean, it made SENSE in American Werewolf to just sit and watch and gawk at the awesomeness that it the transformation becuase he's all alone...the addition of the music that's so ridiculously inappropriate that it goes back around to being appropriate is awesome, too

in the howling...the transformation scene just doesn't really come at a great time...

it totally deserves it's reputation, and it is one of the better werewolf movies ever, i just prefer american werewolf as i find it all-around better with plot being definitely better in americna werewolf...some of the howling's plot points are a touch too contrived and 'convenient' for them to work really well...

better werewolves, though

Your loss then.

I respect your difference of opinion, and all you said is great and all, but ultimately pointless. My verdict still stands. The Howling is a great movie that deserves its reputation as one of the best werewolf movies ever made. Its moody, funny, original, and interesting and its well loved for those reasons. If you don't like it, you don't like it, but I can't relate to any of your complaints at all, and honestly, you come off as a bit arrogant and (as you said) narrow minded by saying things like you'd like to "give most viewers more credit" than to like the film. Its fine that you didn't like it, but don't be so condescending.

For the last time, I'm not saying I think you're pretending to like the film. Obviously you do. I'm saying that all of the intended suspense of the film is built on the notion of werewolves as unknown subject matter. 'What's that shady figure turning into? What's going to happen to this guy that got bitten? Big reveal: silver bullets are what you need to kill a werewolf. Will this barn fire kill these werewolves?' Unless you knew nothing of werewolves beforehand, I find it very hard to believe that you considered any of that suspenseful.

I mean, I love Night of the Living Dead, but I'm not going to act like I didn't see the kid's zombification coming a mile away, even though it's obviously built up and intended as a surprise. Hell, the ending of this week's new Venture Bros. became pretty obvious before too long into the proceedings, but it was still a great episode. There's nothing wrong with liking any movie but let's not kid ourselves.

Darkman

I loved this movie! It was awesome, sad, and at times humorous. I saw it on Cox on Demand, is there an unrated version of the film? The one on Cox seemed as if it were cut. If the movie is like that, then I'm cool with it, but if not, I sure do want to see it.
