I was never bored during Thor. :D

I just watched Contagion. Damn. I really liked this thing. I loved the story/acting/look of the thing. It's great. It's a shame I waited so long to watch it though.

Couldn't sleep last night, ended up watching two very different films.

Dreamcatcher - Apparently this Stephen King adaptation about a group of friends fighting butthole aliens is widely derided. I thought it was rather enjoyable, save for perpetuating the "all mentally handicapped people have superpowers" stereotype.

Autumn Sonata - Ingmar Bergman drama film about a long absent mother who visits her adult daughter. Most of the film is taken up by a single conversation they have. They start out trying to be civil, but eventually their (harsh) true feelings come out. This film was very, very good.

Hulk (2003)- I tried giving this another chance after reading so many people talk about how "deep" it (supposedly) is, but I utterly despise everything about this film except for Sam Elliot. It has aged horribly, the pacing is terrible, and there is no tone to this thing at all. It can't decide if it wants to be a deep character study or the worst kind of cornball, cartoony comic book movie this side of Spawn. Its like they wrote an introspective character piece and said "Wait, this is supposed to be a comic book movie, here's a bunch of annoying split frames and idiotic bullsh*t like Hulk poodles." Either that or they made a goofy, corny superhero movie and said "Wait, this Banner guy is supposed to be tortured or something? Here's some pop psychology jargon and a drunk Nick Nolte." Pick one approach and stick with it. The Hulk himself looks atrocious, especially by today's standards... he looks like he's made out of putty or something. He doesn't look menacing or even act all that angry when he's in full Hulk form... he just kinda coasts and wanders around looking sad. I can see why Ang Lee has more or less disowned it and went back to doing what he does best. But Josh Lucas' death scene had me laughing out loud for like 10 minutes, so there's that. To all the fans of this movie out there like my buddy KG... sorry... at least I tried giving it another chance.

Crank 2- Not as fun as the first, but still has its moments. I felt like they were going a little bit too out of their way to make it crazy and top the first one. But any movie that breaks into a kaiju fight for literally no reason is worth watching... also, awesome score by Mike Patton.

The Woman- Lucky McKee (who directed May) did this movie about a rural family who finds a feral woman and keeps her chained up in order to "domesticate" her. Great performances all around, and awesomely gruesome and stomach churning, but I can't see myself going back to it often. And after all the controversy about walk-outs and that infamous clip of the dude flipping out at Sundance, it wasn't nearly as "torture-y" as I thought it would be... I've seen more gruesome, for sure. A good Netflix watch.

Being Elmo- This is the second time I've watched this. Incredibly moving documentary.
