I just finished Usagi Yojimbo Book 18: Travels With Jotaro, and while previously I could only reccomend Usagi to you guys if you loved samurai films and swashbuckling adventure in general now you must read it because you're kaiju fans.

This book ends with a story (originally published in 3 issues) that plays wonderful homage to the kaiju genre. It features giant creatures that bare a close but non-copyright breaking resemblence to Mothra, King Ghidorah, Gamera (described as a giant kappa), Daimajin, and Godzilla. The shot of the faux Ghidorah grappling with the kappa/Gamera is worth the cover price.

Of course, this is merely one of the cool things that happens in the greatest ongoing comic series of all time (so says me).

Is it weird that the one film I do genuinely enjoy of Smith's is Dogma, and the one I can care less for is Clerks?

I just picked up one of the coolest suprises ever. It's called the Beasts of Burden: Animal Rites hardcover. It's beautiful looking, slightly oversized hardcover starring these guys:




That's right, it's an extremely creepy supernatural series starring a gang of pet dogs (and one cat). They're junior apprentices in the Wise Dog society, and are intrusted to protect their home from ghosts, werewolves, cannibal frogs, undead wizards, and anything else that comes along. This book collects all of the stories up till now, but in a few months another issue comes out: The Beasts of Burden meet Hellboy! I'll definately get that one the day it comes out, but it'll be mighty hard to resist buying any other single issues soon to be released: I want to wait for the next wonderful hardcover like this one.

Has anybody read Books of Doom? I'm considering picking it up. I'm a huge Doctor Doom fan, and thought this might be perfect. Though I still thought I'd check to see if anybody has any reactions to it.
