Another thing that would probably help is to limit the amount of time you spend on the internet posting about Godzilla and related subjects. I haven't decided yet if you're just trying to quickly inflate your post count or if you really do have nothing else to do this summer, but 25+ posts per day on MZ alone is probably both excessive and obsessive.

Kee-rist.

So the basic advice everyone is giving this guy is "tone it down." We get it. Check. Enough is enough.

Except, of course, the advice is total bullshit.

Telling him that his toys are causing the problem?

This VERY FORUM has a huge set of threads dedicated to GROWN ADULTS talking about "collecting" Godzilla toys. Ooops... my bad... "collectibles.

Why do adults re-brand "toys" as "collectibles"? Because they are as embarrassed as "OH GODZILLA! WHAT TERRIBLE LANGUAGE!" to be grown adults still playing with kids' toys. But no one is chiming in telling these 40 year olds they shouldn't be putting their Godzilla toys on their desks at work, or creating websites showing off how they painted their miniatures, or spending decades discussing the types of plastic used on the latest Bandai releases.

*I* think the entire Bandai / Godzilla toy collectible fetish is ridiculous. I don't get it. It smacks (to me) of horribly insecure people holding desperately to a time when things were easy and innocent because of a dread fear of their own adulthood and responsibility. But that's me, and this is the first time I have ever posted anything remotely critical of toy collectors in any forum (and I have been around since the old newsgroup days.) I don't berate the collectors even though I "don't get it", and they can go off and act like 12 year olds all day long for all I care. So long as they aren't hurting anyone, more power to them.

So why is everyone telling a KID he shouldn't put a toy on his desk, when there is an entire industry dedicated to adults TWICE his age putting toys on THEIR desks?

And what is up with this notion that we should all tailor our behavior and beliefs to whatever the bland, common-denominator, ignorant bullies find acceptable? If we do that, then we will be left with a nation (world) of common-denominator, ignorant bullies. The US has that reputation right now, and how's that working for us?

I would think people on THIS board, of all places, would be supporting someone for enthusiastically promoting the fandom. But every group has to find someone in its midst to alienate, in order to make themselves feel better, and that's exactly what's happening here.

Bravo.
