Steve Irwin (Crocodile Hunter) killed by stingray barb.

Talk about anything on your mind!

Man, that really sucks. Irwin was the real deal; totally fearless and dedicated to what he did. The man spent his entire life promoting conservationism and nearly every penny he made over the years went to maintaining his animal sanctuary. People keep saying "Well, it was bound to happen sometime, with all the crazy "OH GODZILLA! WHAT TERRIBLE LANGUAGE!" he did!" Well the thing is, the reason he always came away virtually unscathed was because he had spent so much time with the animals, he knew exactly how to resolve any situation without hurting himself or the animal. It doesn't suprise me he ended up getting killed in a freak accident, because under any other circumstances, he would have avoided it. He was THAT good.

But anyways, I hope the dude goes down in history as a "OH GODZILLA! WHAT TERRIBLE LANGUAGE!" legend. Both the man and his work are deserving of nothing less.

This hit me like a ton of bricks. Steve was one of my heroes growing up, and one of the many inspirations for me to go into a wildlife career (currently studying marine biology/zoology). This is a huge loss for animal conservation, and I don't think that can ever be overstated. The man has done so much, and it's criminal that he had to leave this world at such a young age. Not to mention leaving behind a wife, and two children; one of whom will never really get to truly know how wonderful he was as a father. Watching his daughter talk about him in an interview taken two years ago that was just re-aired on Animal Planet brought me to tears.

A great man was lost, and a huge void has been left in his passing. While it deeply saddens me it also strengthens my resolve in doing anything and everything that I can to fill as much of that void as possible.

You will be sorely missed Steve, God rest your soul.

I want Terri to go "Life Aquatic" on that sting ray's ass.

Although I know that if Steve were still alive, he'd hold no ill will towards it.

Sorry OtiGoji, but your post just oozes the ignorance of people who just don't understand this man, and the life he led long before a camera was ever pointed at him. He acts no different in front of a camera, that's just who Steve is. What you see is what you get.

I'm pretty sure the person who said his wife should kill the stingray was making a humorous reference to a comedy film.

OtiGoji, building things like crocodile zoos takes something called money. Now in order to get that money,Steve Irwin had to get high ratings for his television show, and he obtained them through offbeat antics. I'm not sure why you're bringing up your construtive criticisim for Mr. Irwin now, since he's hardly in a position to do anything about it. Too bad he didn't think to call you before setting up his filming schedules.

Find some alive people to pick on.

The sea rose as a wall of sharp spines sliced thru the surface. The water boiled and churned as fish of all species floated on their sides, dead. Godzilla, the demon god had emerged.
