Hybrid's new (fourth studio) album "Disappear Here" may be their best since "Wide Angle", their first.

Just amazing work by these two guys, now officially joined by a third member, vocalist Charlotte James.

Immaculate production, using heavy, almost depth charge-like beats with beautiful, dark melodies and even heavy use of orchestra.

Officially known as an "electronic" band, their work is much more complex and rich than to be pigeonholed as a "dance music" group....

Their work is very cinematic, and they have in fact been used for movies, and one of their albums, "Soundsystem 01" features music by Harry Gregson Williams, whom they worked with on the score for Wolverine (haven't seen it, don't care to).

This 8 minute video (needs to be seen in HD) is for the first released single from "Disappear Here", Break My Soul.

Very simple, but the music and the images together are stunning..... abstract HD shots of a city at night, then the song breaks at the 4-minute mark into a 180 degree turn to a snow covered forest and an acoustic break and haunting vocal by Charlotte James. I hate to use the word "epic", but it's a word that fits Hybrid well.

The city images almost remind me of the first few minutes of "Suspiria", if only superficially, when Suzy Banyan steps out into a strange European city and then is taken for a ride into the Black Forest.

up until recently, I had given Death Magnetic a fairly long rest...

circling back around and listening to it again (my XM subscription just ran out and Death Magnetic was one of 3 CDs I had in the car) and I freaking LOVE this album...

probably my 4th favorite Metallica album and that's saying A LOT considering my top 3 are "untouchable"

TRON Legacy soundtrack by Daft Punk.

Dark and serious, and more orchestral than electronic...reminds me of Hans Zimmer's music for The Dark Knight.
