Flawless Film Series

Postby jellydonut25 » Mon Mar 05, 2012 2:06 am

Alright, some clarifications before we begin:
-By flawless I do NOT mean every film is flawless, what I mean is you enjoy every film.
-By film series, I mean three or more films
-Films with the same characters are all considered one film series, even if the films are unrelated aside from a character or two (like Godzilla or Gamera)
-Remakes do not have to count (so like with the Romero Dead series, you do not have to include the Savini, Snyder or direct-to-video remake of Day films)

So, with those considerations what you got? Which series do you consider to be good across the board?

For me:
-Evil Dead Trilogy - possibly the only one on this list where I unabashedly love all the films
-Romero's Dead films. Diary is the closest to me not enjoying a film, but I still like it OK, and I appreciate that it tries something new.
-Die Hard - Is the fourth film perfect? By no means whatsoever. But it's a decent action flick.
-TMNT - i could probably watch any one of the films without complaint. of course, it's been a LONG time since i've seen 3 or TMNT. and I think the only time I saw TMNT i was drinking quite heavily.
-Toho's space opera series (mysterians, bios, gorath, war in space)
-Austin Powers
-Lord of the Rings
-Bourne - i wouldn't say i'm a fan of ANY of them, but they are all decent
-The Naked Gun
-Toy Story - correcting what I said about evil dead, here's a second series that I love all the films

Ones that would have made it if not for one film:
-Planet of the Apes (and I don't HATE Battle, either...but it's not interesting enough to be able to like it)
-National Lampoon's Vacation Series - Vegas Vacation was an atrocity
-The Omen - Seriously, who thought Omen IV sounded like a good idea? The remake was unnecessary at worst, but it hit most of the beats of the first film. The fourth movie out-and-out SUCKS
-Rocky - Rocky V is bad. Rocky Balboa also isn't very good, but if it were the worst of the series, I'd be willing to put it on the list
-Batman - Batman and Robin...I actually WANT to like it, too...especially with the recent show of support it's getting from people (not just Jared) who claim that those of us who don't like it just don't get it...
-Critters - Critters 4
-Indiana Jones - why oh why did they have to nuke the fridge?
-Blade - Blade III

Ones that would have made it but I haven't seen EVERY film so I can't quite comment:
-Puppet Master
-Piranha
-The Fly
-Toho's Mutant Series - I haven't seen Secret of Telegian butI love both of the other films.

Ok, so my list goes something like:

The Yokai movies..
The Daimajin trilogy
Gamera (of course...and I'm talking about every film from the original to Brave)
The Creature from the Black Lagoon trilogy
Planet of the Apes
The Fly
Rocky
John Carpenter's End of Days trilogy
Zatoichi (which I don't own any of as there's soooo many films and they're all more or less the same...if I was rich suddenly though I'd own every one of these classic samurai film)
Jurassic Park (I can watch all of them...don't love 3 or 2 but they aren't horrible)
LOTR
Evil Dead
The Vengeance Trilogy (Kyle...how the hell did you forget this one!?)

Eh, this list is quickly becoming exhausting lol. That's it for now, prob think of some more later

LOTR is my first choice...

Among a few others already mentioned, I would say Back to the Future, even though I haven't seen any of them in a long time.

I think I will add Planet of the Apes. Battle is bad, but it's not as grating to me as say...Megaguirus (which keeps Godzilla off of this list).
