Well, think about it. We're quite a few years into the Godzilla hibernation. There are no more DVD's being released (I believe CM only planned to release a certain amount), everyone has basically said all they have to say about Godzilla, and there is just basically nothing going on with that. There was the Cinemassacre count-down that got people going to the General Godzilla section, but it was more to talk about the nature of the video reviews more than anything. There was the game last year, but soon after that came out that discussion on that died out. In terms of monster movies in general, there was Cloverfield and that has really been it in terms of anything big.
The only section on here that sees repeated discussion is the video game section but in case you haven't noticed that has slowed down in the last month since all of the major games are out for the year. Plus it's the holidays, and finals time, so a lot of people don't have that much time to really come on here and post in any section.
But to give you a super-simple answer here, the fandom is just dead. There are surges of life that come along every once awhile, but it's nothing major to keep discussion going for long periods of time.
