Dungeons & Dragons 4th Edition

Anyone else pick it up this week? (yes, I know, I'm a tremendous dork, and I don't even have a basement)

I did. First time I've touched D&D anything since 1985. Barely looked back once I'd moved on to other RPGs long before that, and I don't think I've sat down and played an tabletop RPG of any flavor since the early 90s.

But 4E looks pretty great, came in the mail yesterday. Unfortunately the big pull to me was this new online D&D Insider initiative. Sadly, they've totally missed their launch date and it looks like it will be months before they have things like the online character builder or the virtual game tabletop and minis up and running, if ever.

I'm just waiting for one of you to tell me that you have no idea what I'm talking about when I say "tabletop RPG". Or to ask "Is that Xbox or PS3?"

Any chance for this to reach the consoles?

If you're talking about the Insider, probably not. Hell, they'll be lucky to get it to PCs, period. From what I've seen, though, its UI probably wouldn't lend itself well to consoles. But I do think a really great virtual tabletop RPG for something like Live would just rock.
