I've yet to see G84 myself but I've got my eye on a nice *Cough**HaCk**lunG**cOugH* copy that I'd like to buy once I actually get some money in my pocket...

G85, IMO, is the best film of the Heisei series (coming from the dude who puts GvsM in a close second... and GvsKG trailing at last).

God... I want another G film as good as that one... Like.... Godzilla Vs Gigan with the GFW Gigan and that apocalyptic feel that G85 has (to me anyway...).

My only irkings with the film was the gritty realism... or at least, that it was completely destroyed by the demilitarized Japan's pocession of the Super X weapon and MASER CANNONS!!! MASER CANNONS!!! Where the HELL did they get those?!?

Still one of my all-time favorite films though

Youtube is becoming quite handy to watch the original versions as I watched 84 for the first time.

I was impressed with the more serious tone of the film compared to 85.

Also for once it seems they managed to dubb a voice close enough to the original-the Prime Minister.

Outside of the lame comedy and poor dubbing in the US version I think both films can stand side by side.
