Okay, who knows the answer to this??

Discuss the 2nd Godzilla film era here! Beam fights, revised versions of classic kaiju, the Heisei era was a mixed bag of fun and controversy!

Okay, who knows the answer to this??

Postby zekend01 » Mon Feb 16, 2004 4:16 pm

I know this showed up in anouther thread, but I just gotta know: In GvsMothra, were those flying Mazer craft choppers, or were they VTOL craft? I'm going with VTOL. Does anyone have any stats on them? I can't seem to find any anywhere. Does anyone eles think they were bad azz like me :?:

I think they were called Maser Jets or something like that. I'm surprised they never came back.

I wish they had come back too Legion. I would like to see some drama played out from the point-of-view of one of the pilots of those things, kinda like what we saw in GXMG with the tanks. I could see an engageing and intense exchange between the squadren as they were about to take on the BIG GUY.

"Godzilla at mark 3,bearing 236. Osaku, I'm going in."

"Careful there Lu. He knows we're comeing. His posture just changed!"

"Crow 3 and 5, that is confirmed. Infrared scan indicates a rise in temperature on G's posterior. Recommend decreaseing your velocity and change your heading to bearing 120."

"Copy that Ground 3...wait! Lu! What are you doing!?! Your still on course! Abort Lu!! He knows your comeing!! Pull back damnit!! He's about to let loose!!!"

"It's alright Osaku...I'm going to go in low and try to hit him in the right knee. 1000 meters to range..."

"Lu, pull back!! His spines are lighting up!! Damnit Lu!!"

"500 meters until target. 300 meters...Mazers locked..."

"LU PULL BACK!!! LUUUU...HE'S GOING TO FIRE!!!!"

***giant flash as bright as the sun. Osaku's radio registers static***

"NNOOO LU!! Oh, god NOOO..."

Oh well. I can dream can't I?

Those "maser jets" were a neat idea, but I didn't like how they made noises like the tie fighters out of Star Wars. Kind of seemed a little too much like a rip-off, akin to the special police in Destroyer, complete with flamethrowers and motion detection devices, just like the Space Marines out of James Cameron's Aliens. Not to mention Destroyer's inner mouth as well, ala the Xenomorphs.

Once again it was Akira Ifukube to the rescue! That scene has my favorite rendition of the Maser March, so I can't help but to love the Maser Jets as portrayed.

Those fighters were indeed fun to watch and it would have been fun if they had made more appearences in the Heisei movies.
