I've done threads on , and , now it's time to move onto the few remaining directors involved with the series starting with Kazuki Omori. Together with special effects director Koichi Kawakita, Omori shifted the direction of the Heisei series from the gritty, 80s techno-thriller vibe of Godzilla vs. Biollante (1989) to the more outlandish, genre oriented tone of Godzilla vs. King Ghidorah (1991) which began the trend of reimagining classic Toho monsters for the 1990s (Mothra, Mechagodzilla, Rodan, Baby Godzilla).
I enjoy both films but part of me definitely wishes Biollante had been a bit more successful just to see what alternate path the series could've gone.
