That's right. I'm defending and praising this most unfairly maligned of the Heisei era films.
While I'll admit this film has a lot of flaws, it also has a very exciting ending. I love the long drawn out final battle, it really gives the impression of being in a war. The Spacegodzilla design is awesome, marred only by the obvious plastic used for the shoulder crystals.
The less said about litle Godzilla the better.
And ya gotta love Spacegodzilla tossing Gdozilla into a skyscraper, awesome.
Dammit! I liked this movie and I'm not ashamed to admit it!

I enjoyed the movie too, but it isnt one of my favorites. I too like the design of Spacegodzilla, even though its the concept of Super Godzilla with minor changes. Hopefully Toho brings back Spacegodzilla in a much more better movie, I would like to see him return in one of those Destroy All monsters Movies. Godzilla x Destroyah x Spacegodzilla, Oh Yeah!

I agree that GvsSG is an underrated film. I think it was pretty good, far from great and definitely not the best Heisei film, but not as bad as most make it out to be.
For one, i think its pretty much agreed that SpaceGodzilla as a kaiju kicks @$$! Godzill was awesome in the movie also. MOGUERA is only ragged on because it "wasn't as powerful as MechaGodzilla", which isn't exaclty true because he never went up against Godzilla directly for a real right. Little Godzilla was unfortunately a necessary transition between Baby and Junior. Thankfully he wasn't in the film all that much.
The story was good. The idea of controlling Godzilla was interesting. SpaceGodzilla's origin could have been better, but they used what they had. The final battle was awesome.
The only real flaws were in the execution of some ideas, like the meteor-belt fight between MOGUERA and SpaceGodzilla. Also, the acting could have been better. But all-around, the film wasn't all-that bad.

Dude, this is gonna be CyHunter's favorite thread.
I'm sorry, but I can't think of one thing that makes this movie's existence worthwhile, aside from the fact that it brings enjoyment to my crazier friends.

Anguirus23, you can't be serious. Are you saying you didn't like SpaceGodzilla's design at all? The final battle was even the least bit cool? Godzilla's entrance in the film from the sea onto the island wasn't awesome? The sheer premise of Godzilla facing off against a mutant version of himself didn't cause you to wet your pants?

Uh...will you take "God, no" for an answer?
The only thing about Spacegodzilla I liked was the Trendmasters 10" action figure, but even that is a minus for the movie because I realized it looked better than the suit.
Fortunately, a Heisei marathon still makes sense chronologically if you skip SG. That's sort of a roundabout plus, right?
Ok, there is one EXCELLENT thing about the movie. The G-suit was totally kick-ass good. Fortunately, I can see plenty of it (albeit modified) in GvsD.

I agree with Bucky 100% (although you already knew that, didn't you?)
Oh, and I like what they did with Miki. Sure, it was kinda silly having her "use the Force", but it was a hell of a lot more interesting than anything else that happened with the humans in the Heisei series. Gen. Aso gets a good scene or two, and the island location shooting really adds a lot to the moment. If there's one thing this movie did better than any other movie of the era, it's the live-action cinematography (although the lighting in the FX photography seriously detracts from the experience...asteroid battle, anyone? Oh well, at least it's short...) And dammit Ang, I still say the final battle is 10 times better than GvsMG'93s.

I partically liked the movie myself, but I don't look for mistakes and bad acting too. But I have to agree Space Godzilla is a wicked cool character.

^^Well, although I meant it in a metaphorical sense, Mothra's colors did seem kinda pastel and bland in that movie, so I guess even that is true...
