
Seriously, though, maybe it's just me but I've never found '84's FX work to be that great: It always looks more like a model set than the rest of the series. Maybe it's the lighting, bit it always looks like a bunch of toys, especially the train. In fact, now that I think of it, I'm pretty sure it is the lighting. It needs more smoke & fog to make everything look bigger; this has been shown to work to great effect on films like Star Trek III, why not G'84? We see it being employed in most if not all the later movies of the Heisei era.
Not to be a whiner, just...saying.
