The Godzilla with 2 Brains...

I just finished watching Godzilla vs Mechagodzilla (Heisei of course) for the first time in probably 9 years. Over the years I had managed to forget one of the STUPIDEST bits of science to ever INFECT a Godzilla movie.

This of course being the location of a second brain for Godzilla...up his @ss.

Now, given my love of Drive-In, Exploitation, and of course Kaiju films I'm more than just a little open minded.

But, even I had to wonder what Godzilla might do with a brain located in such an undignified location.

The film's "science" states that if you destroy that posterior brain, Godzilla won't be able to walk. So the @ss-brain controlls his motor leg functions? He needs an entire second brain for that?

A bit odd considering that in almost every other animal on the planet Earth with motor funtion; the act of walking is almost operated on an instinctive level with very little need for complex brain usage.

Even in other reptiles.

Which of course means I have to mention that no other reptile on Earth, that I know of, has a second brain located up their @ss, or anywhere else for that matter.

I can't help but think that this might have been where the steam started to run out of the ol' Heisei era franchise. :D

By all means, what do you think?

The "hindbrain" in Stegosaurs was't likely a brain as such.. but more of a Booster for the signals from the brain.

Ever strung together multiple USB extension cables?
After two or three cables the signal starts to weaken and your USB Device doesn't work.
If you add a powered USB Hub somewhere in the middle, it works.
The hindbrain (Probably) worked like that.

It's been 15+ years since my college Dinosaur Paleontology class, so I'm a bit rusty.
Best analogy I could think of. ;)

Anyway.. I didn't much care for the Godzilla hindbrain idea.
He's large enough that he'd have to have thousands of them throughout his body unless his nervous system were comprised of some sort of biological superconductor.

Eh, just because the genre itself is fantasy doesn't mean anything and everything is acceptable by default. Of course everyone has different standards. Personally, I've always been intensely interested in paleontology so the double brain thing just tends to bug me a little.
