Here's something I've never seen answered...

Despite the constant nagging about TriStar's release of the Heisei films, such as the pan & scan format of the VHS', etc., I for one am happy with my copies of them. But, as much as I love them, there's one thing that really gets on my nerves. I also have yet to see KPA or anyone else really explain it, so I thought I'd ask.

What was the deal with the credits, both opening and closing? I recall seeing Toho's international dub of Destoroyah at G-FEST, and was delighted to see the full start and end credits during the film, fully translated into English and everything. TriStar's VHS' were already in EP mode, so what was the purpose of deleting the end credits? I suppose to use as little tape as possible, but that doesn't explain the opening credits.

And, any possible explaination I can think of for shortening/removing the credits on the VHS' can't explain why they're still shortened/removed on the DVDs.

Can somebody help me with this?

I don't like the edited credits either and don't have a clue why they were cut. You should ask Mike Schlesinger about it.

One good thing is that Sony is no longer cutting the credits. REBIRTH OF MOTHRA 3, GxM and GMK were shown on SciFi with their full credits, and the latter two will be available uncut on DVD in Feb.
