Finally got to see this movie... Got the Sony DVD as a gift a few weeks ago and before I could watch it, my player crapped out on me

Then I tried watching it in five-minute installments at school before class started...

But today my DVD player's fixed and I finally got to see the whole thing!

Onto the film...

Honestly, I don't see why people knock it so badly... I loved it! The effects, for the most part, sucked, but I could forgive that, because I didn't expect anything more from Kawakita.

Loved the Batogoji suit, but I absolutely despised the water suit and upper-body prop :puke: ... Battra's design was really awesome, but the execution left something to be desired. With Mothra, exactly the opposite was true: Her execution was awesome (lookit those wings go!) but she looked like a ratty dog toy.

The dubbing was bearable... BUT OH MY GOD THE COSMOS!!! They completely destroyed their beautiful voices (as heard in the Japanese trailer) and the replacement voice-over made my ears bleed... :goofy:

I loved the story though, and the divorced couple's performances (what's-his-face and Masaiko) as well as their sub-plot were great, IMO.

I'd have to say that this film has to be my favorite 90s G-film and my favorite Heisei film, just behind Return of Godzilla!

This is one of the worst Heisei movie (G vs SG takes the crown) in my book, if Sony did every re-release the Heisei series on DVD this would be the last one I would get (Kind of like how it took me forever to get GxM).

The Good:
- Godzilla's volcano entrance
- Battra being the anti-Mothra
- One of the flying bugs gets killed
- This movie makes other movies look better (and more interesting)

And now the Bad:

- Mothra is in the movie
- Mothra also becomes some cheap Power Rangers reject
- Godzilla's roar is changed to crap
- The sound to Godzilla's heat beam is changed to some crazy crap
- This was the beginning of the beam wars
- This also started that whole worthless Mothra Trilogy crap
- GLITTER!!
- Mothra didn't die....why??
- Force-feeding save the earth message throughout the movie
- Cheap Indiana Jones ripoff for an entrance
- The plot was pretty much the same as the showa GvsM movie except 10 times more boring
- Battra's adult form is pretty much pointless
