Ironically enough, I enjoyed RoM2 because I expected utter disaster, and I didn't like RoM3 as much because I thought it would be better. LOL! I'm just plain hopeless, aren't I? I did like the RoM3 Ghidorah and Mothra designs, although at this point Mothra was just getting absurdly powerful.
You just have to keep in mind that they are kids movies. Like Neverending Story meets Godzilla, kinda sorta.
Anyway, RoM1 had the best effects, best new ideas, yet still felt like a "classic" monster story. RoM2 was just crappy, but good for a laugh. RoM3 felt like wasted potential. So many good ideas and so many new props and suits, and yet the effects are just bad and Mothra forgets all his best moves. Still, far better than 2. Oh, and I have to wonder, is there some subliminal association at Toho between King Ghidorah and time travel?
