I did not like this one that much when I first saw it,probably due to it's fairly sombre tone and short fights, but it gets better every time see it.I think it still suffers form having too many characters,a clumsy exposition and a VERY uneven music score that ranges form awful to superb[although almost all the music works weell on it's own,it does not always go well with the onscreen action],it more than compensates with it's unique monster, great effects and terrific camerawork. The film sometimes has a manga feel, more so than any other G film I think.

I liked it a lot. It was the movie that showed me that Godzilla kept going after the 1985 Fiasco. Anyway I was really impressed by the big guy himself. His look at the time was great and is sill one of my favorite versions of Godzilla. Great flick and yes a DVD would be nice!

BTW wasn't the video a HBO release? I rememebr seeing the HBO logo on the tape (then again my mind could be playing tricks on me.

I just re-watched Biollante last night and I have to add that the scene where the Saradian agent opens the blinds and you see Godzilla outside blows me away! It was a marvoulously done effect and it was one of the best examples of using familiar size refrences to show just how big the monsters are I've seen in a kaiju film.

PS-I like the Saradian agent guy! He and the Interpol agent from Godzilla vs Mechagodzilla should have a movie where they do battle

You know, I need to watch Biollante again. Because I didn't pick up on that scene. It certainly a great flick though.
