One thing that perplexed me when I first saw this movie is why they changed King Ghidorah's origin. The Futurians could have just as easily been from outer space, in much the same vein as, say, the Nebulan cockroaches of Godzilla On Monster Island. I mean, Wilson and Gurenchiko are kind of similar to Fumio and Kobuta in the way they dress, their heedless bravado and the overall, cheesy, corn-ball way in which they were written. I still feel that they make for some very effective villians, despite the sub-par acting.

No matter, I still love this movie, warts and all.

I think it would've more interesting if they had retained KG's wandering space dragon origin, but made it so that the Futurians had managed to wrest control of him. I mean, this is the only time he's ever been under human rather than alien control. It's actually kind of odd to think about that. There's probably a little more potential in the idea than the movie actually explores, but I think they did okay by introducing Mecha-KG as the heroic figure at the end. Plain old KG as a good guy would just be weeeeeeiiiiirrrrrd, right? :P

I don't particularly care for the new origin, like most of you, but that has more to do with the Dorats than with the nuclear angle. If it had just been an egg that hatched and mutated, I might not have objected as much to it.

I agree 100% with the notion that it was silly and pointless for them even to go back and bring people from 1992 into the past. I really feel like they ought to have thought up a better reason to bring the protagonists along, even if it was something like them just stowing away in the time machine out of suspicion, or better yet, the bad guys just turning up with KG in the first place, and Emi defecting and *then* taking everybody back to the past to find out/prevent what happened.
