I just don't approve Destroyah being the final chapter, Godzilla should've fought a stronger entity of SpaceGodzilla of sorts but instead of crystals this one was of magma.

Anyway, I loved this movie especially when Godzilla passes the torch to Godzilla Jr. Loved the soundtrack too which was haunting. I went teary at the end when Gidzilla died which is perhaps why I hate this movie as well.

I'm not exactly sure what Destroyah does for this movie at all. if he had been removed from the movie entirely and instead the film had focused PURELY on the death of Godzilla and G-Force's attempt to stop it, this film would have been a lot more interesting. I mean for bleeps sake, Destroyah isn't even killed by Godzilla. The filmmakers removed him from screen in time for Godzilla's death, and Destroyah is never mentioned again (granted it IS at the end of the film).

Also, though Kain says design-wise Destoroyah is the weak point of the film, I disagree. I think the design of Destoroyah and all progressions through his various forms are solid.

It's the execution that lacks big time.

Oh and also, everyone complaining about Destoroyah being defeated b the military...I kinda disagree. It's pretty clear that Destoroyah is trying to flee from Godzilla because of the final super mega-awesome infinity insane spiral death crazy beam acquired in complete and utter 90s Heisei fashion in GvsMGII and Godzilla's run away radioactivity. Destoroyah is by this point basically dying, and the military just kinda puts in the final blast.

^ I would have much rather watched Godzilla kill off Dessy than what we ended up getting in the film. I sort of felt Goji was cheated even if Des was running away.

Tokyo, a smoldering memorial to the unknown, an unknown which at this very moment still prevails and could at any time lash out with its terrible destruction anywhere else in the world.

This movie had one of the best Godzilla endings imo. Just the shot of Godzilla jr in the smoke>endings where Goji walks off into the ocean.

Agreed. You can't give a giant monster dialogue (in general) or really get into their heads for motivation, so you have to design them in ways that elicit a response from the audience. Destroyah looks like a crab-devil monster so obviously he's evil! In actuality he doesn't do anything special at all, just as you said. Battra could have easily had the fight against Jr., only to later pick him up and drop him. In fact Battra's motivations were actually more fleshed out than Destroyah so I could actually see that scenario being more plausible.

I think the same could be said of Space Godzilla...I don't know how he became known as this malicious trickster or super villain, but his motivations in Gvs.SG are not explained one bit yet somehow he's become a fan favorite. I blame the video games which gave him more personality than anything on screen, which was reinforced in IDW's comics.

I always chalked that nonsense up to typical 90s Heisei nonsense...It's just a continual process of one-upping the 'EXTREMITY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!' of whatever came before it.
