I'm going to have to side with Jelly in that the entire time travel plot is flawed from the start and doesn't make sense throughout, just as I already argued with MFW. It doesn't matter if the events make sense, because the motivations of the Futurians are pointless to begin with.

Also, how can a nuclear sub make Godzilla grow to 100m, but in G'84 he absorbs a reactor and it has no physical effect? Not to mention the ANEB is designed to feed on nuclear material, so a nuclear sub would only give it fuel.

For the past couple weeks, I have been trying to find a way to re-enter this discussion. Alas, I cannot. This film truly divides the fandom, atleast in this community. I don't think either side is going to change the other's mind at this point.
