Last night I watched SG.
And by watched, I mean that I skipped most of the human drama and watched monster fights.
This movie sucks. There is too much going on. Why does SG decide to imprison Little G and then wait for Godzilla to track him down (in one of the most boring city destruction scenes ever featuring awful matte shots) when he is basically killing him in their first fight? Why does Moguera split up to attack the tower from underground when Godzilla could simply knock it over without their help?
The sad part is, I actually love the SpaceGodzilla design... His powers are outlandish but the concept was cool. The fighting? Snoozefest. The score? Meh. Most embarrassing to me is how often Kawakita decides to toss Godzilla into a city backdrop just to add sparks and flying debris so he can call it a day. It doesn't look near as convincing as the Showa stuff with miniatures. Even worse, we are treated to endless scenes of Goji trekking through Japan...mostly doing nothing at all.
