Ranking the Heisei Films

G84 firmly remains my second favorite Heisei film, but I don't get all that excited about it. As a kid it bored the heck out of me. Now, and I've said this before, this is one of those "HOLY CRAP, WHY AM I NOT CONSTANTLY SINGING THIS THING'S PRAISES!?" Movies like Ghidrah, Terror of MechaGodzilla, and this are all very good. I just sort of forget how good they are until I decide to throw one in the player. G84, however, has risen steadily through the ranks over the past 10 years for me. I love the U.S. cut tremendously. I don't care about its issues. I have a ton of fun with it (a lot of the anti-soviet stuff just appeals to my love of pessimistic portrayals of humanity in fiction).

I too prefer the anti-Soviet stuff in the US cut. Something about it just makes it ring so much more true of an 80s movie...
