Did Godzilla "Ascend"?

Discuss the 2nd Godzilla film era here! Beam fights, revised versions of classic kaiju, the Heisei era was a mixed bag of fun and controversy!

Did Godzilla "Ascend"?

Postby Drax » Sat Feb 14, 2004 11:00 pm

At the end of Godzilla vs. Destroyah, just after Godzilla melts there's a far shot of the Mesa Tanks looking upon the devestation where you can see an effect similar to that when Biollante evaporated into spores and went into the sky.

The effect is only small, but it's there. So do you think Big-G became a divine being in a higher form of existence, or "ascend", if you will?

Interesting. I think it's only a coincidence, and that it's just showing the nuclear dust Godzilla dissolved into, but it's certainly a thought to ponder in it's own right.

It's probably the same type of dust Rodan gave off in Godzilla vs. MechaGodzilla II

Well, Ifukube has said that when he wrote the score for GvsD, he prayed Godzilla would go to Heaven. :)

Well, anyone notice the big smoke ring that flies out of the shot midway through the meltdown?

Yeah, the Heisei series may have made every monster have a projectile but the story was very good.

That's interesting take on the end of GVD that Godzilla would ascend into heaven, it in a way makes sense.

"He was asummed into Heaven by the angel Torgo"
Crow. MST3K show #624: Santo vs. The Vampire Women.

I sorry I had to do that and I know I going to catch slack for it.

Hell of a theory but I must say that he didn't. I think it's just for effect. Desu-goji didn't pass any spiritual plane.
