And to celebrate, I posted my review/memoirs of the film on my LiveJournal blog:
http://www.livejournal.com/users/ryuuseipro/31478.html
I also just posted this same review on IMDB, but I was forced to truncate it a great deal (and included a disclaimer somewhere)!

Nice review!
Any chance you could post a link to (manga artist/future Godzilla designer Shinji Nishikawa, I think, who did a funny comic strip about it on his webpage)!

I was born the same year TOMG was released. I guess you can say we're peers.
Happy Anniversary, Terror of Mechagodzilla.

Probably because of Katsura's fake breasts.

In the 70s, my little friends and I used to play monster. I played MechaGodzilla, and tended to win a lot of battles.
As a point of reference, we used actual rocks in our battles. Not only did rocks show up a lot in the movies shown on the creature double features, but my mother decided for some absolutely mysterious reason to tell our rabidly Catholic neighbors that I was being raised as a Protestant. *bang* "You're not like us!"
(In point of fact that was a lie; not only were there absolutely no Protestant churches in South Boston, but she made no effort to instruct me in any religious trend. 'Weird bit ch.)

Yeah, great movie.. the serious tone creates a great ending to the 'showa era' (even though, continuity-wise, DAM is). Seeing the original ending is like "wow", I really hope Classic Media releases the uncut version on DVD, so all fans will get the chance to see it's proper version.
