I was actually thinking about this question for quite a while after watching Godzilla's Revenge a few days ago....
I know that the original japanese title is "All Monsters Attack", but in the US its dubbed "Godzilla's Revenge", now my question is... what is Godzilla revenging??? And what are All Monsters Attacking??? lol i know im making fun of it...but still...they probably knew that they wouldn't be making much money if they called it "Dream of Godzilla"

The Japanese title is probably referring to all monsters attacking Godzilla.
The U.S. title is purely exploitative. No reasoning behind using that title at all except to sound more "adult". The film was originally released in the U.S. as the much more apt tile "Minya, Son of Godzilla". They pulled it when it tanked and retitled it because there was already a "Son of Godzilla" title.
