I agree about Showa Godzilla getting stronger all the time, remember at the early showa series his breath was only fire to start with but near the end of the series t became a beam that makes explosions. He also had trouble defeating Mothra at the beginning of the era but can now kill Mechagodzilla and Titanosaurus with minimun human help.

King Ghidorah, MG, Hedorah, Gigan, and as I much as we G fans hate to admit it, King Kong could be thrown in with those 4 above kaiju as G's toughest foes...

To back up Cousin's first point above, in "Terror of Mechagodzilla", Godzilla runs everywhere. Yes. RUNS. He doesn't stagger or lumber, he friggin' runs all over the place.
