I just got finished watching the great "King Kong Vs. Godzilla" and I would like to let everyone know that I do not hate the way King Kong looked in this movie. Whew!!! I finally admitted it. I'm a closet Toho Kong fan. Maybe It's because I grew up with this movie and have come to accept it's shaggy design and lack of emotion. Who know, but I do enjoy watching it and prefer this suit over the horrible one used in "King Kong Escapes". Anyone else share these thoughts? Or am I alone on this one?

I liked the movie (but will never love it) but I haven't seen it in years....and more than likely stay that way since I don't have a vcr anymore (I have it on tape not dvd). And I hated the Kong suit (but the one in King Kong Escapes is even worst lol). But yea it's a good movie.

I agree with you, Akuash! You are not alone! The Toho Kong Mark 1, despite the immobile face (Which a fun puppet helps to make up for!) still has that patented Toho "cool" in the over all design! It's far more memorable than then two or three more animate Gorilla suits that pop up in every western Ape movie in the 50's and 60's...all because the design is so much more interesting.

I like both Kong suits just fine. True, they are not the best, but with movies this fun, who cares?

I'm sorry...I just don't see it. The face looked like like a paper mache mask I made in 2nd grade, and the fur looked like it came off the old carpet of an insurance office. And why did his arm length change? When he has the "extention" arms they look terribly floppy.
And of course, the "real time" photography they used in that movie didn't help matters. All around, the G and KK suits did not seem up to par.

It will never be the same as the American one. Just won't happen. I love the Japenese monster films and even like that fight scene between Godzilla and Kong but Ihave to side with the American one. It is just a part of our history.

I think the reason that I like it is because I grew up watching this movie over and over again on an old grainy looking TV. It's hard to overcome nostalgia.

I like both suits, though I thought the one in 'King Kong escapes' didn't look the best in the water, with that big head an' all.
I love Toho's Kong - he doesn't look as cool as the original, (but then again, what does?) but he still has a lotta soul.

Gotta love that scene where he stuffs the tree down Godzilla's throat! And when 'Zilla sneezes it right back at 'im, Kong does this "oh, you're gonna get it now" gesture. Classic!
