GvsMG74 Vs ToMG

Which do you prefer?

Myself, I like MG74 much more than ToMG, which was a little underwhelming IMO.

A little comparison from my point of view:

-The plot. I love the introduction of The Aliens, and I thought the whole "Godzilla vs Himself" was well done. ToMG kinda bored me...

-The Kaiju. G ws well portrayed, and MG even more so. I Loved MG's roar ^_^. Ang's role, though small, was cool, even though he did get trashed. But this was really good at showing how powerful and sadistic MG was. I just wish MG hade kept his beam he had as "Psuedo-Goji". As for Caesar... well, yes, he was indeed a wimp, but it again accented the power of MG and how only his organic double could stop him. Titanosaurus only had a cool roar going for him, IMHO.

-The Battles. This goes pretty well along with my opinions of the Kaiju. MG and Ang's battle was short but really awesome :D . The first ever G vs MG battle was one of the coolest battles of the Showa series, and possibly even in the entire series! Absolutely loved G's entrance! The final battle was really cool as well, showing us (as I've mentioned) that not even the mystical guardian Shisa monster could stop MG, making G's victory all the more grand. ToMG's battle kinda made me yawn...

-The Soundtrack. While Ifukube's music resounds throughout ToMG, it still doesn't quite save the film and it works better in the older films than here. GvsMG's soundtrack absolutely rocks!!! I love the swing style battle themes ^_^! Absolutely wonderful!!! (BTW, I'm not bashing Ifukube, I'm just comparing how the respective soundtracks fit to the films.)

Well, that's my OPINION, and please don't bash me for them, no matter how much you disagree.

Cheers! :D

I refuse to vote. Both films were absolutely great IMO. The only reason I liked TOMG better was because Godzilla took on TWO adversaries by himself and didn't back off. Also, help that he received from military/INTERPOL was more obvious and profound in the conclusion. He definitely could not have won otherwise.

It seems to me that theres alot of people who think very highly of ToMG like me, and some who just think of it as another Godzilla film. But it seems as if the general consensus on GvMG and Toho's as well, is that it's one of the best.

Personally ToMG is my 6th ranked film and GvMG is my 7th with a 9 and an 8.5 out of 10 respectively (rank subject to change with GFW on the way). I love both films, and thought the fight scenes in both films were pretty even, minus a couple of weird cuts in ToMG, and how KS seemed pretty useless when Godzilla showed up despite them making a big deal out of him early in GvMG. I love the music to GvMG slightly more, plus it has angilas and a cool atmosphere. But I give ToMG the edge for Titanosaurus, Mugal, one of Godzilla's best assaults ever, and Katsura's death sequence cut from the US version.
