Showa Godzilla Question

I was watching Godzilla vs. the Smog Monster with my nephew the other day, and throughout the film Godzilla had this weird mannerism where he'd wipe his mouth and then throw two little jabby punches at the air. I seem to recall that he does that in Godzilla vs. Megalon at one point too. Is that some sort of weird Japanese pop culture reference or something? Was Antonio Inoki doing that in the wrestling matches at the time or something? Even the little kid in GvsTSM did it once, which is what really has me convinced that it's supposed to mean something.

I'm not 100% sure, but I think there was some popular personality that did that. I liked seeing, but then I was Ken's age as well the first I saw the movie. It definately gave Godzilla personality.

I am SURE, I will be corrected, but here is my unerstanding of why G does this little manerisim. Nakajima did it orignaly to be sure the position of the head of the suit. However, he decided to keep the manerism for the kids who seemed to like it.

Ken did it cuz Godzilla's his idol. We know this because that other guy says something like "Just like Godzilla?".

I always thought it was Godzilla's way of saying "Now get out of here
or I'm going to pop you a few times!"
