I'd buy that, though I never gave much thought to why Godzilla could pull off stuff like that. He can because... well, he's Godzilla! :)
Come to think about it, there might have been some martial arts symbolism going on in that film. G looks like he's channeling his chi or something along those lines.
Gonna have to watch this one again...
