Hey everybody, they just recently released figures for this weekend's showings of Rialto's Godzilla re-release, and they're incredibly good!
Total over 3 days the film has made $38,030! And that's only playing at 2 theaters! It had the highest per-theater average of any film over this entire weekend! Good job Godzilla, and here's to more sucuess!

It even made the entertainment news on IMDB:

In a big surprise, a restored print of the original Godzilla (with Raymond Burr removed) took in $19,000 per screen at movie houses in New York and San Francisco.

Thats great to hear. I wonder if it would be fair to say that this excededd Rialto's estimates and hopes for opening weekend? I hope this can old for all the locations around the country and for the length of its duration? I wonder how many people were repeat viewers?

Rialto told me that due to the increasing interest in GODZILLA they've doubled the number of prints to 6. :D

Look at it this way: Godzilla opened Friday at the Nuart in West Los Angeles. I attended the 7:30 PM showing and we had around 75% of the theater filled. Considering how horrible Friday night traffic is in Los Angeles, the film did quite well. Plus, there were a lot of people waiting to get in for the next showing. Not bad for a fifty-year-old foreign movie in an arthouse theater!

That's how I felt too.

I liked how the Toy Vaults Godzilla plush and Steve Ryfles book were both available at the concession stand. I cant wait for December to see all the goodies that await me at the Tokyo theater I see Final Wars at.
