Hi guys, I just got done wathcing the american version of KK vs. G and well, it seems to dis-regard all previous films. Is it just me or is the film a stand alone film.

Not really, if you've seen Godzilla Raids Again, you would realize that the iceberug Godzilla fell into is the same one he pops out of in this film.

Yes true, but the american dubbing leads you to think this is Godzilla's first appereance. I.e "the world is shocked to find the exsitence....." and "this makes us reconsider everything we know about suspended animation" just little things. The japenese version is deffinetly a continuation in the series though.

Nope, just blame it on bad script writing since the American version at the same time acts as if everyone should already be familiar with the monster Godzilla and yet Godzilla had emerged from an iceburg after being frozen for millions of years.

Lets not forget just seconds before Arnold Johnson acts like this is the first time the monster has appeared, the holicopter pilot in the Toho-shot footage clearly shouts "It's Godzilla!" when he first spots him.

Yeah, the American version of King Kong vs. Godzilla really sucks.

Disregard it, and stick to the Japanese version. In the Jp version, a character says "we couldn't have expected him to remain frozen in there forever..", but really even in the Am version, it doesn't act as a stand-alone film (some parts might make it seem as such, but that's only because the American version sucks)

When I first saw the Japanese version of KKvsG, I was stunned at how much of Ifukube's wonderful score they cut out. He did some truly amazing work on KKvsG....but only Ifukube's Faro Island chant was left in the American version and the rest was replaced by cheesey American B-movie stock music. :x

Anyways, this film clearly follows Godzilla Raids Again, with G popping out of the same iceburg he was buried in at the end of GRA. This is mentioned in the Japanese version, while the American version laughably acts as if this is the 1st time in millions of years Godzilla has appeared, yet refer to him as "Godzilla" as if they already know him (not to mention the helicopter pilot yells "Godzilla!" when he first spots him  ).
