Next month marks 40 years since the release of Godzilla vs. Hedorah.

It's one of my favorites, but I have to say that I've never really found the AIP version anything special. While the actual dub is superior, "Save The Earth" just doesn't work for me; I like the original song better. Maybe Seahawk could whip up a hybrid version with the AIP dialogue and original Japanese song?

I had a Fanboy "What-if" moment with this film a month ago. I watched this with the International dub on, but with the mindset of : "What if AIP had never got hold of this film and instead Cinema Shares distributed it in the U.S. along with the other 3 70's G films? It probably would've kept the dub, but what kind of edits would've been made? Would it have opening credits? Or a new title? Etc." This might make a neat fan project for fun.

It would probably still be called something like SMOG MONSTER. The opening credits would probably be cut. There aren't any shootouts or gore/bloodshed like the other 70s films, so I can't see much else being cut.

TOMG would have definitely gotten an identical release to Bob Conn's TERROR OF GODZILLA version if Cinema Shares released it, nonsensical title and all.

Ah yes, my first Godzilla movie. You never forget your first time.
